New format Wednesday evening classes - intermediate level only
Ballasalla Village Hall from now on
These sessions are for practising and learning new choreography’s; it is not troupe practice/rehearsal and is open to anyone with a good grasp of the basics.
Classes to run from 7.30 –9.30 as before, at the same cost. Adrienne will be drilling the dances and Chrissy will be working with the group and individuals as needed.
The first half of the class (maximum) will be drilling choreography’s that we already know – these will not be taught and those who wish to learn will need to join in and learn as we go. We will not dance in, or practise formations, unless they are intrinsic to an individual dance.
The first 2 runs through will be made without comment or stopping – there will then be a couple of mins for feedback from Chrissy or anyone else in the group (e.g. arm positions) we will then go through the routines once more to work on the highlighted points.
Once we have more than 4 dances that we want to practise, we will rotate through them week by week and the dances to be practised will be published in advance. This will enable dancers to ensure that they have any costuming/ props with them on the day as it is not intended that these will be provided – with the exception of sticks for Saaidi. Each dancer will be expected to have a veil or shawl available and a skirt that can be swirled/swished for Spanish fusion dances.
The second part of the session will be working on new (or picking up old) dances. We will use notes, video etc to assist us in anyway possible and it is hoped that we will eventually begin to develop our own choreography’s.
The new dances we will be working on will also be published in advance
Any other business –
From 9.30pm anyone who has a dance, piece of music, suggestions etc that they want to share with the group can get one or more persons involvement as they wish.
Note –
I hope to make these sessions ‘busy’ and energetic, which of course dancers can drop in and out of as they wish, but it is suggested that you bear this in mind when deciding what to wear for the class! Jazz pants and a tee shirt will be ideal, as will any loose and comfortable clothing.
